Be discovered and share your words and their meaning with the world.  No entry fee is required, and although the winner’s work will be published in In Retro, all rights remain the property of the author.  All genres of poetry are welcome for consideration.

PRIZES
There shall be three cash prizes in each quarter: a First Prize of $100, a Second Prize of $50, and a Third Prize of $25.  As mentioned above, the winners' work will be published in each quarterly issue in addition to having their names and links to their bios posted on our website.

HOW TO ENTER
Each entry must include a completed entry form – which can be downloaded and saved from here.  This is a fillable PDF file that can be saved and printed for regular mail or emailed. Entries can be submitted by regular mail, email or fax - all contact information can be found on the entry form.  By submitting the work to In Retro Magazine for consideration, regardless of method, the contestant agrees that the work they are submitting is an original work of their own making and that by submitting this work they are not infringing on the rights of another.

Excessive violence or sex, determined by the judges, will result in disqualification. Entries may not have been previously published in professional media.

  • To be eligible, entries must be 50 - 500 words in length. This is not intended for short story writing, although stories certainly can form within a poetic format.

  • Only entries submitted where no delivery signature is required will be accepted.
  • The contest runs for each quarterly publication beginning on January 1st and ending September 30th.  Submissions must be received prior to the 5th of each beginning quarter (January, April, July and October).
  • Only one submission per contestant is allowed per quarter.
  • Winners for each quarter will be individually notified using the preferred method of contact outlined within the application form.
  • We thank all those considering our contest.  In an effort to preserve and promote Canadian culture, this contest is for those living within Canada.
